Patrol officers are the first link in the search warrant chain—but many warrants fail because the probable cause was not clearly articulated and sourced. Warrant Ready is a one-day, scenario-driven course focused on improving how patrol officers articulate probable cause, establish nexus, and describe places and items to be searched with the level of detail courts require.
Rather than focusing on legal theory, this course addresses the most common patrol mistakes seen by judges, prosecutors, and investigators: conclusory statements, unclear sources of information, poor descriptions of property, and missing links between the crime, the place to be searched, and the items to be seized. Through practical patrol-based scenarios—vehicles, residences, cell phones, and crime scenes—officers learn how to explain how they know what they know, why a warrant is necessary, and how the requested search is connected to the crime being investigated.
