Modern criminal investigations generate massive amounts of digital, transactional, and communication data—but cases often fail when that information is not properly connected, documented, and given meaning.
THINK INSIDE THE BOX is a two-day, investigator-focused course designed to instruct participants how to collect, analyze, and integrate records from multiple platforms. This course moves beyond “information gathering” and focuses on case development—providing students instruction on how to connect phone records, social media records, financial transactions, housing records, surveillance, jail calls, and other data sources into evidence that supports probable cause, charging decisions, and trial presentation. Special emphasis is placed on building evidence-based prosecutions and reducing reliance on testimony from victims and witnesses. The training uses real-world case examples and practical frameworks students can immediately apply.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify and lawfully obtain key digital, transactional, and communication records
- Correlate data across multiple platforms to establish identity, association, location, and intent
- Translate raw records into clear investigative timelines and narratives
- Articulate evidence connections in search warrants, charging documents, and court testimony
