Geriatric Emergencies – EMS 4202-14P
Description
This 3-hour online continuing education course focuses on the unique challenges and considerations involved in assessing and managing geriatric emergencies in the prehospital environment. EMS providers will explore age-related physiological changes, high-risk medical conditions, communication strategies, and common barriers to care that impact older adult patients.
Course content is delivered in a self-paced, fully online format, allowing students to register and complete the material at any point prior to February 27th, 2026. Upon successful completion, participants will receive 3 hours of NCOEMS-approved EMS Continuing Education credit on their CE Transcript.
Topics include:
- Physiological changes of aging and their impact on emergency care
- Recognition and management of common geriatric medical emergencies
- Assessment considerations, communication techniques, and scene awareness
- Strategies for improving patient outcomes and reducing complications
